UAE Aid Ship Arrives At Beirut Port With 2,000 Tonnes Of Relief For Lebanese People
A UAE aid vessel arrived at Beirut Port on 25th October, delivering 2,000 tonnes of urgent relief supplies to Lebanon. This initiative is part of the 'UAE Stands with Lebanon' campaign, initiated in early October. The campaign reflects the UAE's ongoing support for Lebanon amid its crisis, following directives from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guidance from other key leaders.
The aid shipment included 1,000 tonnes of food and 1,000 tonnes of relief and shelter materials. Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, stated that this aid underscores the UAE's solidarity with Lebanon during these challenging times. "The latest aid dispatched demonstrates the UAE’s solidarity with the Lebanese people during the current challenging conditions," he said.
The UAE has sent a total of 14 aircraft as part of its humanitarian efforts. Some flights were in collaboration with organisations like WHO, UNICEF, UNHCR, and IFRC. These efforts highlight the UAE's commitment to international cooperation in providing aid to those in need.
In addition to air shipments, the campaign has gathered 1,300 tonnes of relief supplies. Contributions came from 24 Emirati organisations and thousands of volunteers. This collective effort showcases the UAE's dedication to humanitarian causes and its willingness to assist Lebanon during difficult times.
The 'UAE Stands with Lebanon' campaign was launched on 4th October under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives. The initiative embodies the UAE's values of fraternity and cooperation with Lebanon. "These extensive efforts to enhance the urgent humanitarian response reflect the keenness of the UAE’s wise leadership," Al Shamsi added.
This campaign is a testament to the UAE's long-standing tradition of aiding nations in crisis. It highlights both governmental and civilian participation in providing necessary assistance to Lebanon as it navigates through its ongoing challenges.
