UAE's AI Office And Google Host AI Majlis To Explore Future Prospects For Healthcare Sector

The Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, has highlighted the need for specialized dialogues to study the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on vital sectors. He emphasized the role of AI in shaping a new landscape that integrates with all work methodologies and life domains. This transformation aims to solidify the UAE's leadership in the global digital race.Al Olama made these remarks during the opening speech of the second session of the 'AI Majlis' series, which focused on employing AI in healthcare development. The sessions were organized in collaboration between the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, and Google. The initiative aims to bring together the government, academia, and the private sector for in-depth discussions on AI and its impact on various sectors.During the session, Al Olama stressed the importance of integration and collaboration between governmental entities, the private sector, and academic institutions. It included a dialogue session attended by Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary of Health Regulations Sector at the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), and Dr. Scott Penberthy, Director of Applied AI and CTO of Healthcare and Life Sciences at Google Cloud. Government officials, leaders, and decision-makers in healthcare, digitization, technology, communications, and other fields were also present.The session discussed mechanisms for integrating AI into healthcare systems and its profound impact on medical practices. It also explored ways to enhance proactiveness in this field through collaboration between the government and private sectors. The goal is to formulate innovative solutions and strategies that leverage AI's transformative potential to develop the healthcare sector.Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri highlighted the opportunities that integrating AI into the healthcare sector provides. The UAE has been at the forefront of using and developing AI solutions, with initiatives such as using AI technology to detect tuberculosis in medical fitness tests since 2018. The Ministry of Health and Prevention is also using AI to detect other diseases like breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases, allowing proactive and preventive measures to improve patients' quality of life.Dr. Scott Penberthy of Google Cloud expressed his excitement about the healthcare revolution powered by AI. He praised initiatives like the AI Majlis for bringing together the best AI minds to work on shared missions.The AI Majlis series aims to develop the infrastructure related to AI applications and provide support in various sectors.
