UAE AI Award Ceremony Celebrates Innovations And Winners In Artificial Intelligence
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, alongside His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, attended the UAE AI Award ceremony. This event was part of the UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE AI Award, initiated by the UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain last year, aims to motivate federal, local, and semi-government bodies to adopt advanced AI technologies. It seeks to set a national standard for AI use and encourages innovative solutions that envision a future led by digital creativity and collaboration.
Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, honoured the winners. He stated: "Artificial intelligence is the key enabler for vital sectors and the industries of the future." He emphasised that early investments in human capital have positioned the UAE as a leader in technological transformation.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Government Enablement received recognition for its TAMM - Abu Dhabi Government Services. This AI-powered assistant integrates over 40 entities to provide rapid access to more than 940 services. It manages 95% of requests autonomously, saving 256,000 working hours annually and reducing costs by AED 133 million.
Emirates Health Services and Unison Capital Investment were awarded for their partnership in transforming diagnostic imaging using AI. Starting with breast cancer diagnosis in 2020, they expanded to pulmonary tuberculosis in 2021 and stroke in 2023. Their efforts have significantly improved healthcare quality through smart medical service transformations.
The Federal Authority For Government Human Resources was acknowledged for its HR AI Agent system. This multilingual generative AI tool automates HR services for over 50,000 employees across more than 40 federal entities. It has increased customer satisfaction by 70% while reducing support centre workloads by half.
Scientific Research Advancements
Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and GenBio AI were recognised for their work on protein-language modelling. Their research advances bioinformatics studies and pharmaceutical development by predicting protein structures. This strengthens the UAE’s position in scientific research related to AI.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber was named "AI Leader" for his contributions to adopting advanced technologies across national sectors. As Chairman of MBZUAI Board of Trustees, he has fostered talent development globally while promoting responsible technology adoption through various leadership roles.
Award Evaluation Process
Nominations were rigorously evaluated by experts based on innovation, ethics, maturity standards, scalability, growth potential, and impact. The award attracted over 540 entries from more than 170 entities across two editions. This year saw 13 projects reach the finals, highlighting strong participation and enhancing the UAE’s competitive edge.
