UAE Achieves 67% Of 'We The UAE 2031' Vision Targets Amid Global Challenges
Mohammad Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, highlighted that the UAE has reached 67% of its "We the UAE 2031" vision goals. This progress was discussed during the UAE Government Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi. He emphasised that these meetings are a national exercise to evaluate performance and set priorities for the vision launched three years ago.
Al Gergawi stressed that achieving these targets is not the end goal. The focus is on what will be accomplished by 2026, addressing gaps, and maintaining the UAE's leading global position. He noted that this year's meetings raise significant questions and provide practical solutions through various sessions and workshops.

The UAE aims to be number one globally, as stated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. Al Gergawi explained that being first is about leadership mindset and team culture. This approach has propelled the UAE to top rankings in global competitiveness reports, with first place in 264 indicators worldwide.
In 2025, the UAE's economy showed exceptional growth, with projections from the International Monetary Fund indicating a growth rate of 4.8%, surpassing global averages. The nation's agility and resilience have been key to its strong economic performance on the world stage.
The non-oil sector's contribution to GDP increased to 77.5% in early 2025, with a target of reaching 80% by 2031. This progress aligns with a pledge made at the 2015 World Government Summit to celebrate exporting the last barrel of oil after 50 years.
Al Gergawi mentioned that foreign direct investment exceeded AED167 billion last year, placing the UAE tenth globally. The country also ranked fifth in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking and was recognised as a leader in cybersecurity.
Technological Advancements and AI Adoption
The UAE leads globally in AI adoption within workplaces, achieving the highest rate of AI utilisation among workers in 2025, according to Microsoft's report. This achievement reflects the country's commitment to technological advancement under its leadership's vision.
Al Gergawi noted that despite global uncertainties and tensions, the UAE has turned challenges into opportunities under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's guidance. This includes balancing relations between East and West while focusing on economic development and social awareness.
Diplomatic Influence and Humanitarian Efforts
The UAE has strengthened its diplomatic presence internationally within just one year, moving beyond participation to influence global cooperation directions. Al Gergawi emphasised that these achievements showcase the diligence and efficiency of the UAE’s governance ecosystem.
"We are here at the UAE Government Annual Meetings as part of a system that shapes the future," he said. The goal remains for the UAE to be better each year and ultimately become the best country globally.
Concluding his remarks, Al Gergawi affirmed that "the UAE moves forward on a solid foundation set by its wise leadership." He stressed preserving teamwork spirit as essential for continuous improvement towards making the nation better every year.
