Two Holy Mosques Authority Initiates Ceremonial Washing Of The Holy Kaaba
The initial stage of the Holy Kaaba's ceremonial washing began on Wednesday with the removal of the curtain from its door. This step sets the stage for the main event, scheduled at dawn on Thursday, where the Holy Kaaba will be washed with utmost care and precision.
The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque highlighted that maintaining and honouring the Holy Kaaba has been a tradition since King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud's era. These practices continue under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.

For this significant occasion, all necessary resources have been mobilised by the authority. Technical, service, and human resources are in place, supported by engineering teams responsible for extending the Holy Kaaba's staircase. This ensures that every aspect is handled with respect to its sacred status.
The ceremonial washing process begins by sweeping the floor to eliminate dust and debris. Copper vessels containing a special mixture are then used. This mixture includes Zamzam water, rose essence, aged oil, and premium oud. Cloths soaked in this blend are used to clean the interior walls.
Following this, attention turns to washing the three pillars inside and cleaning the floors. Once these areas are cleaned, they are dried using cloths attached to wooden handles. The final step involves perfuming the walls with modern tools to ensure every part of the interior is covered.
This meticulous process reflects deep respect for the Holy Kaaba's significance in Islam. The authority ensures that all actions align with its esteemed status among Muslims worldwide.
Traditions like these highlight continuity from past leaders to present ones, ensuring that such revered practices remain unchanged over time.
