Tunisian Prime Minister Enhances Cooperation With Saudi Development Fund
In a significant step towards bolstering development cooperation, Tunisian Prime Minister Ahmed Al-Hachani welcomed Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), and his delegation in Tunis. The meeting, which took place yesterday, was a convergence of high-profile attendees including Tunisian Minister of Finance Sihem Boughdiri Nemsia, Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Feryel Ouerghi, and Saeed Al-Maliki, head of the Political and Economic Affairs Department at the Saudi Embassy in Tunisia.
The discussions focused on enhancing development cooperation between the two nations. The dialogue underscored the enduring relationship that has spanned nearly five decades, dating back to 1975. Since then, the SFD has been instrumental in financing a myriad of development projects and programs across various vital sectors in Tunisia.

The visit of the SFD’s delegation to Tunisia was primarily aimed at signing a development loan agreement. This agreement is pivotal for the financing of a project dedicated to the renovation and development of the railway system for phosphate transport in Tunisia. Additionally, the delegation participated in a ceremony marking the handover of several housing units in the Zaghouan governorate. This initiative is part of an SFD-funded project designed to foster social growth and economic prosperity across various Tunisian governorates.
The meeting not only highlighted the strong ties between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia but also paved the way for future collaborations aimed at sustainable development and mutual prosperity. The commitment to enhancing bilateral relations was evident through the discussions on development cooperation and the tangible projects underway, signifying a forward-looking approach to partnership.
