TRENDS And French Senate Host Panel On Tolerance And National Belonging To Combat Extremism

An international panel discussion was organised by TRENDS Research & Advisory and the French Senate to promote community awareness about tolerance and national belonging. This event, held at Monory Hall in Luxembourg Palace, Paris, aimed to combat extremism and ensure societal stability. The discussion focused on mindful media discourse and knowledge-based frameworks to expose extremist influences and dismantle their ideologies.

French Senator Nathalie Goulet highlighted the necessity of international cooperation to tackle extremism and separatism threats. She emphasised the importance of unified policies in enhancing stability and reducing extremist influence, referencing France's experience in this area. The panel also addressed physical radicalisation sites and strategies used by extremist groups to recruit youth through digital platforms.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research & Advisory, underscored the shared commitment between TRENDS and the French Senate to confront extremist discourse dangers. He stressed the need for extensive intellectual dialogue between the West and Arab world to understand extremism's root causes leading to violence. Dr. Hamad Al-Kaabi, CEO of Aletihad News Centre, emphasised that coexistence and acceptance are foundational for thriving societies.

Joaquim Pueyo, Mayor of Alençon and Former Member of the French Parliament, shared insights on Islamist separatism's impact on France's social fabric. He stressed the importance of ground-level action and community engagement to understand radicalisation contexts and counter it effectively. His perspective highlighted the need for practical measures alongside policy discussions.
