TRENDS To Host Second Annual Dialogue On Artificial Intelligence Focused On Tech Diplomacy In MENA Region

The second annual Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence, hosted by TRENDS Research & Advisory, is set for 13th November. This event is in collaboration with the UAE Cybersecurity Council and 20 other organisations. The conference, themed "Tech Diplomacy in the MENA Region," will occur at the TRENDS Grand Conference Hall in Abu Dhabi. It will gather experts from institutions like the US Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Google, OpenAI, and others.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, highlighted that this year's conference represents a significant milestone for TRENDS. He noted that it comes at a crucial time to discuss tech diplomacy, a topic of great relevance today. Dr. Al-Ali stated that understanding the impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on politics, economics, security, and international relations is essential for decision-makers.

Awadh Al Breiki, Senior Researcher and Head of the TRENDS Global Sector, explained that the dialogue will begin with a session titled "Powering Progress: The New Era of US-Gulf Partnerships." This session will explore strategic cooperation opportunities between the US and Gulf countries in innovation and advanced technology. It will also highlight AI's role in shaping future partnerships.

The second session, "Navigating the Geopolitics of AI," will examine how technological advancements affect global power dynamics. It will address AI's influence on international relations and policymaking. This discussion aims to provide insights into how AI can alter geopolitical landscapes.

The third session is titled "Soft Power Through AI and Digital Infrastructure." It will focus on using innovative technologies to enhance national images and promote civilisational communication. Additionally, it will discuss how these technologies can support sustainable development efforts globally.

Dr. Al-Ali emphasised that this event aligns with TRENDS’ vision of fostering global dialogue on technology and policy issues. It also reinforces the UAE’s position as a leading hub in the knowledge industry of the future.
