Transforming Transport And Logistics: Saudi Arabia's Key Achievements In The 94th Year Of Unification
Since the unification of Saudi Arabia, the transport and logistics sector has seen substantial growth. This progress is largely due to strong leadership support. The Kingdom has achieved significant milestones, positioning itself prominently on the global stage. Notably, Saudi Arabia ranks fourth among G20 nations in road quality.
The Saudi Highway Code, along with advanced technologies like rubber asphalt and road cooling, plays a crucial role in efficient road management and maintenance. In land transport, the intercity bus network has expanded significantly. Over 60 million passengers used public buses in the first half of 2024.

In air transport, Saudi Arabia has chaired international aviation organizations and hosted major conferences. It presided over the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization and hosted the third annual Future Aviation Forum. The national air carrier fleet has grown significantly with recent deals securing over 264 new aircraft and 100 electric planes.
Saudi Arabia's ports have also made notable progress. The Kingdom now ranks 15th globally in annual container handling. Three Saudi ports were featured in Lloyd's List One Hundred Ports 2024. Additionally, Saudi Arabia won the presidency of the International Maritime Organization Council for 2024-2025.
The railway sector has seen significant developments as well. Contracts were signed to connect logistics areas with industrial cities and establish a passenger station. During Hajj season 1445 AH, there was a 42% increase in passengers using the Haramain High-Speed Railway compared to the previous year.
In logistics, the LOGISTI platform launched by the Transport General Authority offers over 140 services to streamline business processes. A contract was also signed to establish a Saudi logistics city in Djibouti's free trade zone.
Commitment to Sustainable Transportation
The Hajj season highlighted modern transportation solutions such as self-driving vehicles, electric scooters, and advanced monitoring systems. These innovations reflect Saudi Arabia's dedication to providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services aligned with its National Transport and Logistics Services Strategy.
Efforts to adopt environmentally friendly transportation methods have been implemented across various sectors. This includes initiatives aimed at modernising public transport systems while reducing environmental impact.
