Ministry Of Tourism Steps Up Inspection Campaigns In Makkah, Madinah During Ramadan's Final Days
Riyadh, SPA – In a significant move to enhance the quality of services for Umrah performers and visitors in Makkah and Madinah during Ramadan, the Ministry of Tourism, under the guidance of Minister Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb, has ramped up its supervisory and inspection efforts. The ministry has notably increased its workforce in operation rooms specifically established for this purpose in the holy cities, particularly during the last 10 days of Ramadan. This initiative underscores the ministry's commitment to ensuring that pilgrims and visitors receive exemplary services, aligning with the directives of Saudi Arabia's leadership.
The Ministry of Tourism has conducted over 900 supervisory and inspection tours in Makkah, identifying more than 160 violations. These included 140 instances of poor service quality and 24 cases of unlicensed activities. In Madinah, over 210 tours were carried out, resulting in 60 violations being recorded. Among these were 54 cases related to subpar service quality and six instances of operations without a proper license. These figures highlight the ministry's dedication to maintaining high standards of hospitality and tourism services during one of the busiest periods for religious tourism in Saudi Arabia.

Operation rooms in Makkah and Madinah have been instrumental in addressing complaints about hospitality facilities and tourism services throughout Ramadan. To date, these operation rooms have received over 1,060 complaints in Makkah and more than 220 in Madinah. Remarkably, all complaints were resolved within less than 24 hours, demonstrating the ministry's efficiency and responsiveness to feedback from pilgrims and visitors. The Ministry of Tourism encourages individuals to report any concerns regarding service quality through its official social media channels or by contacting the unified care center at 930.
This proactive approach by the Ministry of Tourism during Ramadan is a testament to Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to enhance the experience for Umrah performers and visitors. By ensuring that hospitality facilities and tourism service providers adhere to high standards, the ministry aims to uphold the kingdom's reputation as a leading destination for religious tourism. The increased supervisory and inspection campaigns reflect a broader commitment to excellence in service provision, ensuring that every visitor's experience in Makkah and Madinah is both spiritually fulfilling and comfortably facilitated.
