Ras Al Khaimah To Host Thrilling Tough Mudder Season Finale In April 2024
RAS AL KHAIMAH, 19th April, 2024 - The world-renowned obstacle course, Tough Mudder, is set to make a grand return to the UAE, with Ras Al Khaimah hosting the season-finale event on Saturday, 20th April. This event is brought to life in partnership with RAK Properties, the official location partner. After kicking off the year with a successful series in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), which included three community events across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, followed by the first-ever Tough Mudder Infinity in AlUla, the challenge is now coming to Mina Al Arab, Ras Al Khaimah.
The last UAE Tough Mudder event attracted over 7,500 participants at Dubai’s Jebel Ali Racecourse in November. The upcoming event in Ras Al Khaimah follows a successful iteration in March 2023 and marks the first UAE race of 2024. Nic Cartwright, the Middle East license holder for Tough Mudder, expressed excitement about bringing the event back to the UAE and anticipates a strong turnout from both regular competitors and first-timers.
The event will offer two race options for adults—a 10k and a 5k—alongside a 1.5k challenge for kids. A new heat structure will be introduced, with Premium Heats starting from 7.15am to 9.45am and Standard Heats from 10.00am until 12.30pm. Set against the scenic backdrop of Mina Al Arab and the Arabian Gulf, the event promises to be a rigorous test of physical and mental strength.
The Ras Al Khaimah event concludes a season that saw over 20,000 competitors across various Middle East locations including Dubai, Fujairah, and Jeddah. The highlight was an eight-hour endurance challenge in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, which featured a record prize pot of $480,000 for an obstacle course race. The competition reignited a longstanding rivalry between Canada’s Ryan Atkins and the UK’s Jon Albon, with Albon securing the $80,000 prize money after an intense contest.
Since its inception in 2010, Tough Mudder has established itself as a premier global sports and active lifestyle brand. It is celebrated for creating extraordinary adventures that emphasize teamwork. With more than 6 million participants worldwide, Tough Mudder hosts over 130 challenge events annually across 10 countries.
