Third Zakat, Tax, And Customs Conference 2024 Commences In Riyadh To Promote Sustainable Economic Growth
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Conference 2024, themed "Shaping Tomorrow for Sustainable Ecosystem," began today. Organised by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), it is under the patronage of Minister of Finance Mohammed Al-Jadaan. The event gathers officials and experts globally to discuss tax and customs challenges.
Al-Jadaan inaugurated the conference with a speech on December 4-5, highlighting its importance in fostering international cooperation. He noted that it supports economic growth, facilitates expertise exchange, and aids economic recovery. The minister emphasised Saudi Arabia's progress in achieving Saudi Vision 2030 goals.

Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in digital transformation, with ZATCA playing a crucial role. Al-Jadaan mentioned that the authority achieved a 99.35% score on the UN E-Government Development Index. This success is due to developing digital services and meeting over 350 requirements aligned with this index.
ZATCA Governor Eng. Suhail bin Mohammed Abanmi addressed the conference attendees. He stated: "Through this conference, the authority aims to foster local, regional, and international efforts toward building advanced zakat, tax, and customs systems that contribute to enhancing global economic growth and addressing security and economic challenges."
The conference takes place at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. It features extensive participation from various countries through panel discussions and exhibitions involving about 90 entities worldwide. These sessions aim to address key issues in tax and customs sectors.
The event includes more than 70 workshops designed to enhance knowledge sharing among participants. Additionally, numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed during the conference, furthering collaboration among nations.
The first day of the conference features several panel discussions with distinguished officials, experts, and leaders participating. These discussions aim to explore innovative solutions for current challenges in zakat, tax, and customs systems globally.
This gathering underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing its economic agenda through strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange. By hosting such events, the Kingdom aims to position itself as a leader in addressing global economic challenges while promoting sustainable development.
