Grand Mosque Third Expansion In Saudi Arabia Enhances Integrated Services For Worshippers

The Third Saudi Expansion of the Grand Mosque is now a central hub for worshippers. It offers broad prayer spaces, strong infrastructure, and organised services. The project supports pilgrims during busy seasons and ordinary days. It aims to provide comfort, safety, and a calm spiritual setting for all visitors.

According to the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, the Third Saudi Expansion covers about 1,214,000 square metres. The site includes the ground, first, second, mezzanine, and rooftop levels. This wide layout supports smooth movement and helps manage large crowds during peak worship times.

Grand Mosque Third Expansion Enhances Services

The expansion can host large numbers of worshippers while keeping movement steady and organised. There are 120 designated prayer areas spread across different floors. The design focuses on clear paths for entry and exit. It also helps reduce congestion and supports safe circulation across every main level.

Service facilities are extensive and varied to match the scale of the Grand Mosque. The authority reports more than 25,000 carpets laid for worshippers. There are 17,000 Zamzam water dispensers and 458 drinking fountains. In addition, 11,436 restrooms and ablution areas are in place to support pilgrims’ needs.

The Third Saudi Expansion relies on a strong technical network to support operations. Cooling capacity reaches 90,000 tons, helping maintain a comfortable environment throughout the year. Around 1,300 speakers distribute sound across all levels. This ensures clear recitation and announcements can reach worshippers in every prayer area.

Vertical and horizontal movement systems are designed for heavy daily use. The site includes 428 escalators and 28 elevators, supporting people with different mobility needs. There are 80 doors across the expansion. These help manage flow during entry and exit, especially at busy prayer times and religious seasons.

The authority explains that the service system combines technical, engineering, and human resources. Field teams work around the clock to keep all facilities ready. Their tasks include monitoring operations, maintaining equipment, and supporting cleanliness and guidance services. These efforts aim to preserve comfort, safety, and accessibility for all visitors.

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques confirms ongoing work to improve services in the Third Saudi Expansion. The focus includes infrastructure upgrades, operations, maintenance, and visitor guidance. These steps reflect the leadership’s attention to the Two Holy Mosques and continuing support for pilgrims and worshippers.
