The third "Khair Ummah" Conference of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was inaugurated by Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, in Bangkok, Thailand. Organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the event saw participation from Wanmuhamadnoor Matha, President of the Thai National Assembly, alongside ministers, muftis, and leaders from Islamic universities and associations.
In his address, Dr. Al Alsheikh highlighted the conference's goal to promote Islamic unity and truthfulness. He emphasised that scholars have a crucial role amid global changes impacting political, social, and security landscapes. "This situation calls for a real response from scholars and researchers to clarify the right religious stance against sedition and to reinforce the core principles of the Islamic faith," he stated.

The minister underscored the increasing responsibility on scholars due to global ideological challenges. He urged them to reflect deeply on upholding Sharia law and preserving the Prophet’s Sunnah. Combatting extremism while advancing Islamic values is essential in this context.
Dr. Al Alsheikh also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment under its leadership towards the Two Holy Mosques. The Kingdom has undertaken significant projects to aid pilgrims and Umrah performers in their rituals. Additionally, Saudi Arabia focuses on printing and distributing the Holy Quran globally in various languages.
The two-day conference aims to foster peace and justice while enhancing communication among Islamic institutions. Participants expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for its service to Islam and Muslims. They stressed the importance of tolerance, moderation, and cooperation among Muslims to combat violence and extremism.
Dr. Al Alsheikh concluded by thanking Thailand's government for their support in making the conference successful. The collaboration between both nations highlights a shared commitment to promoting peace through dialogue and understanding.
