Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Opens First Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition In Abu Dhabi
The Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference 2024, known as Global Rail, was officially opened by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is hosted by Etihad Rail in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, ADNEC Group, and dmg events. It takes place from 8-10 October 2024 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was joined by several dignitaries during the opening ceremony. Notable attendees included Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. Other international ministers from South Korea, Uganda, Qatar, Kosova, Jordan, Cameroon, Kuwait, and Spain were also present.
The event's theme is "Setting Rail Infrastructure and Global Connectivity in Motion." It aims to foster strategic dialogue among leaders in transport and infrastructure sectors. The exhibition showcases advancements in railway technology and infrastructure solutions. His Highness toured various stands featuring key companies like Etihad Rail and Hitachi Rail to explore these innovations.
His Highness highlighted Abu Dhabi's role as a hub for international events. He emphasised how Global Rail will encourage discussions on regional and global development in transport infrastructure. This initiative aims to contribute to a more advanced future for transport worldwide.
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei delivered a keynote speech underscoring land transport's importance to the UAE's economy. He stated: "The UAE’s railway is a shining example of innovation and sustainable growth." He noted that the transport sector connects industry centres and opens new trade routes.
The conference gathers over 1,000 attendees from various organisations globally. More than 50 international delegations and 300 exhibitors from over 100 countries are participating. Companies like Siemens Mobility from Germany and HITACHI from Japan are among those represented.
Strategic Conferences and Discussions
The event features a Strategic Conference focusing on policy frameworks to accelerate rail development. A Technical Conference presents research on railway innovation by industry experts. The International Projects Pavilion highlights global railway operators and developers.
An Innovation Hub allows entrepreneurs to showcase cutting-edge technologies shaping future transport systems. The Finance Pavilion offers discussions on project financing and investment solutions for advancing the sector.
Panel Discussions on Future Trends
Over three days, more than 80 panel discussions will take place with over 150 speakers from various sectors. Topics include multimodal connectivity, smart mobility, digital transformation, sustainability, financing policies, governance issues, supply chain resilience, laws and regulations related to transport projects.
The event serves as a platform for collaboration among participants aiming at shaping better futures through knowledge exchange in advanced transport solutions like smart systems powered by AI technology.
This inaugural edition of Global Rail marks an important milestone for the sector by bringing together key players across different fields worldwide under one roof at Abu Dhabi’s ADNEC Centre this October.
