Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Inaugurates The 16th Edition Of Abu Dhabi Art Fair Featuring Global Galleries

H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has opened the 16th Abu Dhabi Art edition. Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, it is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event showcases a diverse array of art galleries and pavilions from around the world.

The fair this year features 102 galleries from 31 countries, presenting over 1,500 artworks. This edition is the largest yet, with 42 new galleries participating for the first time, including those from Qatar, Kuwait, and Kazakhstan. The event highlights the rich artistic culture of the UAE and its national identity.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab praised the fair's role in promoting cultural exchange and nurturing creativity. He emphasised its importance in establishing Abu Dhabi as a global cultural hub and a source of inspiration for artists worldwide. The event enriches the emirate’s artistic landscape and showcases exceptional creative talent.

Running until 24th November 2024 at Manarat Al Saadiyat, this four-day event serves as a premier platform for art enthusiasts. It brings together over 100 local and international galleries, offering unique opportunities to engage with diverse cultural experiences while supporting local artists.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak stated that "Abu Dhabi Art plays a vital role in both showcasing Abu Dhabi as a vibrant cultural centre and connecting the emirate to a wider global discourse." The fair supports local talent while fostering a thriving creative industry in Abu Dhabi and beyond.

The event reaffirms Abu Dhabi's commitment to supporting artists and fostering cultural exchange. It establishes the city as a beacon for arts, culture, and innovation, using art to connect communities across different cultures. The fair opens new avenues for creativity and expression.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab was joined by several dignitaries during his visit to the fair. These included Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to His Highness the UAE President; Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor; Mohammed Ahmad Al Murr; Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak; Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani; Rita Aoun; and Dyala Nusseibeh.

Emirati artist Mohamed Kazem has been chosen as this year's Visual Campaign Artist for his significant contribution to the UAE’s art scene. His work is recognised for advancing art locally, regionally, and globally while enhancing cultural dialogue across borders through artistic exchange.

The Abu Dhabi Art Fair stands as a global hub for creativity reflecting its growing influence in culture and arts. Through this annual event, Abu Dhabi continues to support artists worldwide while fostering connections among communities through art's power across different cultures.
