TGA Conducts Extensive Inspections Across Transport Sectors In June 2024
The Transport General Authority (TGA), through the General Directorate of Inspection, conducted extensive field inspection campaigns in June. These efforts involved 255,815 inspections of land transport activities, including 252,736 checks on transport vehicles and 1,306 on foreign vehicles. The TGA also carried out 1,773 field visits to land transport facilities across the Kingdom.
In addition to land transport inspections, the TGA's teams performed 4,014 inspections of maritime transport activities. They also made 23 field visits to rail transport facilities, including Princess Nora University Metro stations and train stations in Muzdalifah, Arafat, and Mina. During these campaigns, they recorded 45 violations in maritime transport activities and two observations in rail transport activities.

The compliance rate for land transport regulations was reported at 92% for June. Maritime transport regulations saw a higher compliance rate of 99%, while rail transport regulations achieved full compliance at 100%. These figures reflect the overall adherence to regulatory standards within the various modes of transportation.
During the land transport activities campaigns, a total of 28,102 violations were documented. Automated monitoring systems identified an additional 10,808 violations. Common infractions included operating without a professional driver's license or hazardous materials driver's license, lacking an operating permit for the vehicle, absence of a transport document for goods being transported, and drivers not wearing the national or approved uniform while on duty.
Freight transport activity had the highest rate of violations among land transport categories in June. Other areas with significant violations included specialized transport, public and airport taxis (individuals), and "facilities" taxis. This highlights specific sectors where regulatory adherence needs improvement.
Regional Violation Statistics
Makkah Region recorded the highest number of violations in June with 20,540 cases. Riyadh followed with 5,498 violations, Madinah with 5,279 violations, and the Eastern Region with 2,467 violations. These statistics indicate regional variations in compliance levels across the Kingdom.
The TGA's comprehensive inspection efforts underscore its commitment to ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across all modes of transportation within Saudi Arabia. By identifying and addressing violations promptly, they aim to maintain high standards in the nation's transportation sector.
