TGA Hosts Second Annual Forum For Ship Owners And Operators In Saudi Arabia To Enhance Maritime Innovation

The Transport General Authority (TGA) recently hosted its second annual forum for ship owners and operators in Saudi Arabia. The event took place in Al-Khobar Governorate, under the patronage of Acting President Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, with participation from Eastern Region Mayor Fahad Al-Jubeir. Over 120 maritime sector leaders attended the forum.

The forum's agenda included discussions on fostering innovation within the maritime industry. It also focused on advancing digital transformation to improve maritime safety and security. Enhancing the operational efficiency of Saudi Arabia's fleet was another key topic of discussion among participants.

Presentations at the forum showcased best practices from various maritime companies. Both public and private sector initiatives aimed at boosting the efficiency of the maritime industry were highlighted. These efforts are intended to streamline business operations within the sector.

On the sidelines of the event, TGA signed a memorandum of cooperation with DNV, a global leader in ship classification and certification. This agreement aims to facilitate knowledge exchange in research and development, focusing on reducing carbon emissions.

The collaboration with DNV also seeks to strengthen cooperation in developing maritime safety standards. It aims to enhance risk management systems and implement international best practices within Saudi Arabia's maritime sector.

Dr. Rumaih expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for their ongoing support of the maritime sector. He emphasized that this annual forum is part of TGA’s continuous efforts to develop the industry.
