TGA And Amazon Collaborate To Enhance E-Commerce Growth And Support SMEs In Saudi Arabia
The Transport General Authority (TGA) and Amazon have entered into a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance Saudi Arabia's delivery infrastructure. This agreement aims to bolster the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within the Kingdom's expanding e-commerce sector. The collaboration was formalised in Riyadh during the Saudi-US Investment Forum, with Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih representing TGA and Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon MENA, signing on behalf of Amazon.
According to a press release from TGA, this strategic partnership establishes a framework for modernising parcel delivery services across Saudi Arabia. The focus is on adopting advanced technologies and creating innovative financing and leasing solutions. These efforts aim to support sustainable growth among local delivery companies and Amazon's last-mile partners while enhancing service quality and expanding delivery coverage.

The partnership seeks to significantly improve customer experience by embracing cutting-edge technologies. By doing so, it aims to enhance service quality and expand delivery coverage throughout the Kingdom. This initiative aligns with the aspirations of Vision 2030, aiming to create a regulatory environment that supports an integrated delivery ecosystem.
Dr. Al-Rumaih, Acting President of TGA, highlighted the timing of this partnership as crucial due to the rapid growth in Saudi Arabia's e-commerce sector. He noted a major shift in consumer behaviour towards digital platforms, emphasising that this agreement aims to empower an integrated delivery ecosystem aligned with Vision 2030.
Mouchawar stated: "Saudi Arabia is one of the region’s most dynamic digital economies, and Amazon is committed to contributing to its remarkable momentum." He added that combining Amazon’s global logistics expertise with TGA’s regulatory leadership will create smarter, more inclusive delivery solutions that empower SMEs and improve customer experiences across the Kingdom.
This collaboration directly supports the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy by promoting a competitive last-mile delivery sector. It also aims to increase SME participation in the digital economy while advancing Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub.
Shared Goals for Future-Ready Ecosystem
The partnership underscores both organisations' commitment to driving economic diversification and enhancing logistics efficiency. By fostering a future-ready ecosystem aligned with national development priorities, they aim to contribute significantly to Saudi Arabia's economic landscape.
The MoU represents a shared vision between TGA and Amazon for transforming Saudi Arabia’s delivery infrastructure through innovation-driven regulations. This collaboration not only supports SMEs but also aligns with broader national goals for economic growth and diversification.
