Teams From 17 Countries Compete In Riyadh's Final Stage Of ALLaM Challenge To Support Arabic Language

Teams from 17 nations have started arriving at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh for the final phase of the "ALLaM Challenge." This event, scheduled from Thursday, November 7, to Saturday, November 9, will be held at the Crowne Plaza Riyadh. Over 600 participants, forming 200 teams, will compete. The event also includes more than 50 guides and 40 judges, with total prizes amounting to SAR 1 million.

The ALLaM Challenge is organised by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones. This initiative is part of SDAIA's efforts to promote the Arabic language both regionally and globally. It aligns with Saudi Vision 2030's goals, which highlight the Arabic language as a crucial aspect of Saudi national identity.

Final Stage of ALLaM Challenge in Riyadh

The competition aims to develop AI models that can write and understand Arabic poetry, parse sentences accurately, and teach children Arabic engagingly. This initiative continues Saudi Arabia's efforts to enhance the Arabic language in technical fields by providing high-quality data and developing efficient AI models for language handling.

Participants will have opportunities for training and workshops led by AI experts and specialists in Arabic language fields. These sessions aim to support teams in refining their projects based on judging criteria that ensure sustainability and transformation into real AI-driven solutions serving various sectors.

The international competition is held in partnership with IBM and the National Technology Development Program (NTDP). Participants aim to showcase their skills by developing large language models (LLMs). The challenge supports teams in evaluating their projects based on criteria that ensure solutions' sustainability across different fields.
