Team Aoki Triumphs In First Round Of E1 World Championship For Electric Powerboats In Jeddah
The E1 World Championship for electric powerboats wrapped up its opening round at Jeddah Waterfront. The event, spanning two days, was organised by the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation (SWSDF) with the International Powerboating Federation's collaboration. Supervision was provided by the Ministry of Sport and the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Team Aoki, owned by Steve Aoki, clinched first place.
Spanish driver Dani Clos and Saudi racer Mishaal Al-Obaidan represented Team Aoki. They now lead the championship standings with 39 points. Team RAFA, owned by Rafael Nadal, secured second place with 30 points. French driver Tom Chiappe and Spanish racer Cris Lazarraga drove for them. Team Blue Rising, owned by Virat Kohli, took third place with 24 points.

The Deputy Minister of Sport Bader bin Abdulrahman Al-Kadi honoured Team Aoki for their victory. Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Salman, SWSDF Chairman, presented the trophy to Team RAFA. Raffaele Chiulli, President of the International Powerboating Federation, awarded Team Blue Rising their third-place trophy.
Prince Sultan expressed pride in Saudi Arabia hosting this prestigious global water sports event. He stated: "We are thrilled with this achievement, which comes on the heels of Saudi Arabia's recent success in motorsports." This reflects progress in the nation's sports sector due to leadership support and ministerial supervision.
The E1 World Championship is unique as it focuses solely on electric powerboats. It aligns with the Ministry of Sport’s goals for environmental conservation and promoting Saudi Arabia as a hub for major sports events. The championship consists of seven rounds this season.
