TDRA Empowers UAE Government Portals With Generative AI, Aligning With Digital Standards
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has recently announced the launch of the second phase of the "U Ask" platform. This virtual assistant, integral to the unified digital portal U.ae, now incorporates generative AI across government portals, in line with the latest version of the Unified Design Language System (DLS). This move builds on the platform's initial success, where it significantly improved user experience by providing accurate and timely information on UAE government services and policies.
Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, TDRA Director-General, highlighted the importance of generative AI in boosting government service efficiency and customer satisfaction. He stated, "The utilisation of artificial intelligence, especially generative AI, presents a significant opportunity to enhance efficiency in government operations." Al Mesmar also expressed gratitude towards government entities for their collaboration and reiterated TDRA's commitment to supporting digital transformation in alignment with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision.

The integration with DLS 2.0 facilitates a unified framework for federal government entities to manage their website content effectively, ensuring consistency, optimisation, and accessibility. Mohammad Al Zarooni, TDRA Deputy Director-General for Information and Digital Government Sector, explained that U Ask leverages generative AI to provide conversational responses to queries on government services, enhancing user engagement across federal websites.
U Ask supports interactions in over 57 languages, offering a multilingual platform for users to engage in their preferred language through typing or voice commands. This feature enhances accessibility and provides a hands-free interaction experience. The platform is designed to not only respond to user queries but also anticipate their needs by offering intelligent suggestions for follow-up questions.
Furthermore, U Ask has been recognized for its innovative approach to digital government services with the Gartner Eye on Innovation Awards for Governments 2023. This accolade underscores the platform's contribution to advancing digital government initiatives through the strategic use of data and emerging technologies.
In summary, the expansion of the "U Ask" platform signifies TDRA's ongoing efforts to harness AI technologies for improving government services. By enhancing user experience and operational efficiency, TDRA aims to support the UAE's digital transformation journey and achieve its strategic objectives.
