Tawazun And Saab UAE Collaborate On Advanced Drone Detection R&D Programme

The Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement and Saab UAE have formalised a partnership to advance research in drone detection technologies. This agreement was signed at the 2025 Dubai Airshow by Matar Ali Al Romaithi from Tawazun and Heléne Bittmann of Saab UAE. The initiative is part of Saab's commitment to the Tawazun Economic Programme, which aims to bolster national defence capabilities.

This collaboration will be executed in the UAE, with Saab UAE spearheading efforts at their facility in Tawazun Industrial Park. The project seeks to address evolving drone threats, ensuring that the UAE remains at the forefront of defence technology advancements. It aligns with the country's strategic objectives to develop a sustainable and self-reliant defence industry.

Matar Al Romaithi highlighted that this joint effort with Saab UAE is set to enhance the nation's defence R&D initiatives. The programme aims to create innovative solutions for drone detection, boosting national preparedness and positioning the UAE as a leader in advanced defence technologies within the region.

He further noted that collaborating with international leaders facilitates knowledge transfer and empowers local talent. This enables them to design and develop sophisticated defence solutions domestically, thereby strengthening national capabilities.
