Tarshid Partners With Southern Province Cement For Solar Energy At Bisha Cement Plant
The National Energy Services Company, known as Tarshid, has entered into a strategic partnership with Southern Province Cement Company (SPCC). This collaboration involves a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to establish a solar power plant. The Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority has permitted this project, which aims to enhance renewable energy use at the Bisha Cement Plant.
Tarshid will finance, develop, and manage the solar facility for 25 years. This arrangement allows the Bisha Cement Plant to utilise renewable energy without financial or operational burdens. The plant will integrate this system with its current power setup to boost efficiency and ensure sustainable energy supply.

The solar project is projected to produce up to 42 GWh annually. It will gradually show energy savings from the first year of operation. Environmentally, it equates to saving over 1.6 million barrels of oil and reducing approximately 575,000 metric tons of carbon emissions during the contract period.
These environmental benefits are akin to planting more than 395,000 tree seedlings. Such initiatives align with global efforts to reduce carbon footprints and promote green solutions in industrial sectors.
Waled Al-Ghreri, Tarshid’s Board Member and CEO, highlighted the significance of this agreement. He stated: "Our collaboration with Southern Province Cement Company marks a strategic milestone that underscores Tarshid’s dedication to advancing sustainable energy solutions. This initiative enables the industrial sector to embrace renewable energy and cut carbon emissions."
Eng. Aqeel bin Kadasah, CEO of SPCC, reiterated their commitment to reducing carbon emissions through this solar project at Bisha Cement Plant. He mentioned that this effort aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by promoting clean energy and supporting a low-carbon economy.
Alignment with Saudi Vision 2030
This agreement is part of Tarshid's broader strategy to lead in sustainable energy adoption across various sectors. It also encourages private sector participation in achieving national sustainability goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
The initiative reflects how national sectors can work together towards efficiency and sustainability. By adopting such projects, companies contribute significantly to the Kingdom's transition towards a more sustainable future.
The collaboration between Tarshid and SPCC exemplifies how industrial entities can integrate renewable solutions into their operations effectively. This partnership not only supports environmental goals but also strengthens industrial competitiveness through sustainable practices.
