Tarshid Partners With Al-Qurayyat Hospital For Energy Efficiency Project Aiming For 18% Savings
The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) has teamed up with Al-Qurayyat General Hospital to retrofit 35 of the hospital's buildings. This initiative aims to cut energy use by 18%, adhering to top standards and practices. The project will focus on enhancing control, air conditioning, and lighting systems to achieve these goals.
Waled Al-Ghreri, Tarshid's Board Member and CEO, highlighted the importance of implementing 13 key measures identified through field surveys and technical studies. These measures are essential for boosting energy efficiency in the hospital's facilities. The improvements include upgrading the chiller control system and scheduling air handling units.

To further enhance energy efficiency, some air conditioning chillers will be replaced with more efficient models. Additionally, the building management system will be upgraded and integrated with rehabilitated cooling systems. This integration aims to optimise performance across all systems involved.
The lighting systems will also undergo significant upgrades. Conventional lights will be replaced with energy-efficient LED systems that perform well in operational settings. Moreover, occupancy sensors and smart motion detectors will be installed to further reduce energy consumption.
The project is expected to lower annual electricity usage from about 14 million kilowatt-hours to around 12 million kilowatt-hours. This reduction translates into saving over 4,000 barrels of oil equivalent annually. It also helps avoid approximately 1,400 metric tons of carbon emissions.
This environmental benefit is comparable to planting more than 24,000 tree seedlings each year. Such efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030's strategic sustainability goals, which aim for substantial energy savings and reduced carbon emissions across the Kingdom.
