Tarshid Launches Comprehensive Energy Efficiency Retrofitting Project At Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital In Riyadh

The National Energy Services Company, known as Tarshid, has initiated an energy efficiency project at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal Hospital in Riyadh. This initiative involves a comprehensive retrofitting program across the hospital's buildings and facilities. The project aims to cut energy consumption by 30% in 13 buildings, covering 27,000 square meters, using top-tier standards.

Tarshid's Managing Director and CEO, Waled bin Abdullah Al-Ghreri, stated that after thorough on-site surveys and technical studies, they identified 11 key areas for energy efficiency improvements. The focus is on HVAC systems, lighting, and control systems. The project includes replacing chillers and various air conditioning units with more efficient models.

The initiative will also incorporate control systems for air conditioning units, chilled water pumps, air handling units, and cooling fans. A building management system will be installed alongside occupancy sensors in rooms and clinics. Additionally, existing lighting will be upgraded to high-performance LED systems to enhance energy savings.

This project aims to decrease annual electricity usage from around 11 million kilowatt-hours to 7.8 million kilowatt-hours. This represents a 30% reduction in energy consumption while improving the performance of air conditioning and lighting equipment.

The anticipated reduction equates to saving over 5,000 barrels of oil equivalent annually. It also avoids approximately 2,000 metric tons of carbon emissions—comparable to planting over 32,000 seedlings each year.

Established in 2017, Tarshid has become a leader in the energy services sector by promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions. Their mission aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals of achieving significant energy savings and reducing carbon emissions as part of the Kingdom's sustainability strategy.
