TAQA Water Solutions Signs Agreement For Major Water Project In New Tashkent City, Uzbekistan

TAQA Water Solutions has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the New Tashkent City Directorate. This collaboration aims to explore the development of a 65km raw water transmission pipeline and an advanced water treatment plant in New Tashkent City, Uzbekistan. This project is TAQA's second major water infrastructure initiative in Uzbekistan.

The agreement was signed by Ahmed Al Shamsi, CEO of TAQA Water Solutions, and Maksud Abbaskhanov, Deputy Director of the New Tashkent City Directorate. The MoA grants TAQA exclusivity to develop a comprehensive proposal for the project. This involves conducting thorough technical and financial assessments to confirm its viability and create a sustainable solution.

Major Water Project by TAQA in Uzbekistan

Upon completion, the new infrastructure will supply sustainable drinking water sourced from the Charvak Mountain Reservoir to New Tashkent City residents. It will feature a state-of-the-art water treatment plant equipped with advanced technologies to ensure high-quality drinking water that meets international standards.

The 65km pipeline will transport over 500,000 cubic metres of water daily. It will also generate up to 20 megawatts of hydro-power, ensuring a reliable supply of clean water. This supports New Tashkent City's growth by meeting its current and future water needs.

Valued at AED2 billion, this project represents an investment in New Tashkent City's future. By securing long-term water supply, it aims to boost economic growth and enhance community quality of life. The initiative also strengthens UAE-Uzbekistan relations, showcasing shared commitments to sustainable development.

Al Shamsi stated, "Building on last year's success in leading the development of Tashkent's largest wastewater treatment plant, we are eager to embark on developing comprehensive evaluations and assessments for this new project that will set new standards for sustainable resource management and contribute to the long-lasting wellbeing and prosperity of the New Tashkent City community."

Commitment to Sustainability

Abbaskhanov expressed confidence in the project's potential: "Developing this project will supply the people of New Tashkent with a reliable and sustainable operation that has proven its strength as state-of-the-art in the UAE, which goes alongside the reputation of TAQA Water Solutions and its engineers. This agreement is a significant step, and I am more than confident that the cooperation we have had over the past couple of months in developing this agreement has laid a solid foundation for the next steps."

This agreement marks an important phase in creating vital infrastructure for New Tashkent City. The project's focus on sustainability aligns with both countries' goals for economic progress and environmental responsibility.
