Tadweer Group Announces Decarbonisation Pathway To Achieve 40% Emission Reduction By 2035

Tadweer Group has unveiled a strategy to cut emissions by 40% by 2035. This plan was introduced at the 11th EcoWASTE Exhibition and Conference, a key event for recycling and waste management in the MENA region. Tadweer Group serves as a Strategic Partner and Co-Host at this event. The initiative aligns with the UAE's third Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement.

The decarbonisation pathway aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane from landfills, which contribute 3 to 5% of global emissions. This effort supports the UAE's sustainability goals and international climate commitments. The pathway is part of Tadweer Group's broader ambition to transition towards a low-carbon business model.

Tadweer Group Targets 40% Emission Reduction by 2035

Central to Tadweer Group’s strategy are projects that transform waste into valuable resources. These include Abu Dhabi’s first greenfield Material Recovery Facility and waste-to-energy plants. The pathway also incorporates advanced technologies like waste-to-sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biofuel, aiming to divert waste from landfills and reduce emissions.

The initiative is designed as a measurable climate transition plan, supporting Tadweer Group’s goal of reducing greenhouse gases. It aligns with their commitment to a net zero future, factoring in progress from the Waste to Zero initiative for global waste decarbonisation.

Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of Tadweer Group, stated, "At Tadweer Group, sustainability is at the heart of our mandate. In line with this commitment, we are proud to announce the development of our decarbonisation pathway." He emphasised that reducing emissions from waste contributes to tackling climate change challenges and achieving the UAE’s net zero target.

The pathway not only addresses environmental concerns but also enhances air quality and public health. It opens up opportunities for green jobs and new revenue streams while positioning Tadweer Group as a leader in low-carbon innovation.

This strategic move by Tadweer Group highlights its dedication to fostering a deeper understanding of emission reduction methods. By doing so, they aim to create a more sustainable world while supporting international climate objectives and net zero commitments.
