Tadej Pogačar Triumphs At Tre Valli Varesine For UAE Team Emirates-XRG In Strong Solo Performance

Tadej Pogačar, wearing his trade team rainbow jersey, marked a triumphant return to racing for UAE Team Emirates-XRG. He secured victory at Tre Valli Varesine, following his wins at the World and European Championships. The 27-year-old Slovenian cyclist executed a strategic attack, breaking away from competitors with 22km remaining.

Pogačar's solo effort led UAE Team Emirates-XRG to their 91st win of the 2025 season. His teammate, Isaac del Toro, also delivered a strong performance by finishing eighth. Both cyclists were part of an elite group that broke away with just under 30km left in the race. Pogačar launched his decisive attack on the Montello descent.

Pogačar Wins Tre Valli Varesine Race

Pogačar's lead extended to over a minute, ensuring he remained unchallenged until the finish line. This victory marks his second triumph at Tre Valli Varesine. He had pledged to return after missing last year's race due to its cancellation from heavy rain. His current form bodes well for the upcoming Il Lombardia on Saturday.

Reflecting on the race strategy, Pogačar stated: "The plan was to wait for the final lap and arrive in a good place. Tudor decided to go super deep, super early, and they opened the race from far. Del Toro and me went on the attack on one of the climbs." His calculated approach paid off as he capitalised on opportunities during the race.

He further explained: "It was a really good situation, we were in the front group, we knew that no one would work with us too much, so when I saw that I had my gap on the downhill, I pushed after the roundabouts on the flat." This tactical move ensured he maintained his lead while considering team dynamics.

Pogačar acknowledged Del Toro's potential role if needed: "I knew that even if I killed myself, there is still Isaac in the back who could win the race from the group or even solo. So it was a really good situation and we made it." This teamwork highlights their strategic planning and execution during races.

The successful outcome at Tre Valli Varesine underscores Pogačar's skillful racing tactics and UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s strength this season. As they prepare for Il Lombardia, their recent achievements reflect their readiness for future challenges in cycling competitions.
