Syria's Recovery: Asaad Al-Shaibani Highlights National Dialogue And Rejection Of Guardianship At Baghdad Summit

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shaibani, stated that Syria is taking significant steps towards national recovery. This effort is rooted in the belief that Syria belongs to all its citizens, without room for exclusion. For the first time, Syria is engaging in an inclusive national dialogue that respects diversity and ensures representation.

"Syria does not accept guardianship, nor does it accept being an arena for other people’s conflicts," said Asaad Al-Shaibani during his address at the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad. He highlighted Syria's commitment to self-determination and independence from external influences.

Syria's Recovery and National Dialogue Discussed

The minister acknowledged the positive impact of US President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria. He described this move as a crucial step towards national recovery and reconstruction. Al-Shaibani attributed this development to effective Arab diplomatic efforts that have produced tangible outcomes.

Al-Shaibani expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia and Turkiye for their mediation efforts during a critical historical period. He also thanked Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for their support during this challenging phase.

The lifting of sanctions marks the beginning of a journey towards cooperation and integration among Arab nations. The goal is to achieve development, safeguard Arab national security, and enhance regional stability. Al-Shaibani emphasised that this path requires real collaboration among Arab countries.

Syria is finalising plans for a national parliament representing all segments of society. The aim is to establish a permanent constitution that protects rights, upholds sovereignty, and creates a state governed by law rather than chaos.

Commitment to Sovereignty

Al-Shaibani stressed that any attempt to weaken or divide Syria under any pretext is firmly rejected by both the Syrian government and its people. The focus remains on unity and preserving the integrity of the Syrian state.

Syria's journey towards recovery involves embracing diversity while ensuring dignity for all citizens. The nation remains committed to building a future where every Syrian has a voice in shaping their country's destiny.
