Sultan Bin Ahmed Commends University Of Sharjah For Achieving Prestigious Platinum Rating In Sustainability
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), highlighted the university's ongoing support and global presence in various fields. This recognition underscores its status as a leading educational institution within the UAE and internationally.
The University of Sharjah has become the first in the Middle East to receive a Platinum Rating under the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) by AASHE. Achieving a perfect score in sustainable education and research, this accomplishment reflects UoS's dedication to sustainability in operations and planning.

This achievement aligns with both UAE’s and Sharjah’s strategic goals for sustainability and carbon neutrality through education, research, innovation, and sustainable management. The UoS now joins an exclusive group of 15 universities worldwide with this top-tier rating, including institutions from the United States and Canada.
H.H. congratulated the Board of Trustees, university leadership, staff, and students on this milestone. He acknowledged their efforts in building a strong record of achievements over the years. These successes stem from a clear strategy and vision that prioritises student support at the core of its mission.

The University of Sharjah joined STARS in 2021, initially earning a Silver rating. In 2022, it became the first Arab university to achieve Gold status before reaching Platinum level — affirming its leadership in sustainability. This progression highlights UoS's commitment to advancing global rankings across academic fields.
H.H. emphasised that enhancing students' experiences involves continuously improving academic settings — from curriculum development to faculty quality — all through sustainable practices. This approach is part of a global trend influencing universities' futures worldwide.
