Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Chairs Judicial Council Meeting To Enhance Justice And Debtor Rights
H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, led a meeting at the House of Wisdom. The session focused on directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, which stress preserving human dignity and justice. A key decision was that defaulting debtors should not be imprisoned without a brief investigation.
The Council decided that imprisonment for defaulting debtors would only occur if the creditor proves the debtor's ability to pay or shows that assets are hidden or payments are avoided without reason. This aligns with the directive to ensure fair treatment in financial disputes.
The meeting also addressed progress on transitioning to local staff within the judicial system. This initiative aims to improve performance and efficiency by collaborating with the Ministry of Justice. The Council reviewed updates on this transition and discussed challenges faced during implementation.
Efforts to shift to a local workforce were highlighted as crucial for achieving desired objectives. The Council emphasised maintaining smooth judicial operations during this phase, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in business processes.
The importance of ongoing coordination among judicial authorities was stressed to ensure seamless integration during this transition. Providing comprehensive administrative and technical support is necessary to meet goals while closely monitoring transitional steps according to high standards.
The Judicial Council instructed Sharjah's Public Prosecution to work with family and social affairs agencies. This collaboration aims to resolve disputes amicably, encouraging reconciliation before family lawsuits reach court.
