Successful Separation Of Syrian Conjoined Twins Celine And Eileen After Complex Surgery In Riyadh

A team of medical experts from the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program has successfully separated Syrian conjoined twins, Celine and Eileen. The twins, aged one year and five months, underwent an eight-hour surgery at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh. This complex procedure was performed under the Ministry of National Guard's supervision.

Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, who leads the medical team and is the Supervisor General of KSrelief, highlighted that 24 consultants and specialists were involved. These professionals came from various fields such as anesthesiology, pediatric surgery, and plastic surgery. Their combined expertise ensured precision and safety throughout the operation.

Separation of Syrian Twins Celine and Eileen

This operation marks the fourth separation of Syrian conjoined twins and is the 66th successful procedure by the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program. Over 35 years, this program has reviewed 150 cases from 27 countries. Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized that this achievement underscores Saudi Arabia's leadership in this rare medical field.

The support from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been pivotal. Dr. Al Rabeeah expressed gratitude to them for their unwavering backing of the program.

Dr. Al Rabeeah also praised the dedication and perseverance of the medical team members. Their efforts have significantly contributed to this accomplishment, which stands as a source of national pride for Saudi Arabia.

International Relations Strengthened

Hussein Abdulaziz, Chargé d’Affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Riyadh, thanked the Saudi government, KSrelief, and the medical team for their efforts. He noted that this achievement highlights the advanced level of Saudi Arabia's medical sector.

Abdulaziz also mentioned that this success demonstrates strong brotherly relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. The collaboration between both nations in such humanitarian efforts strengthens their ties further.
