Riyadh Witnesses Successful 11-Hour Separation Surgery Of Siamese Twins Omar And Ali

Riyadh, March 02, 2024 - In a significant medical achievement, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), along with his team, successfully separated Siamese twins Omar and Ali at the King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital of King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard. This visit by Dr. Al Rabeeah to check on the twins' condition underscores the meticulous care and follow-up post-operation.

The complex surgery involved a team of twenty-seven highly skilled doctors, specialists, technicians, and nursing staff. The operation, which lasted for about 11 hours, was carried out in six distinct surgical phases. Omar and Ali were conjoined in the lower chest and abdomen, sharing critical organs such as the liver, bile ducts, and intestines.

Dr. Al Rabeeah conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
