Saudi Medical Team Successfully Separates Egyptian Parasitic Twin Mohammed Abdulrahman Jumaah After Eight-Hour Surgery
The Saudi medical team has successfully separated the Egyptian parasitic twin, Mohammed Abdulrahman Jumaah. This complex surgery took place at King Abdullah Specialized Children's Hospital in Riyadh. The operation lasted eight hours and was divided into six stages. It involved 26 professionals, including consultants, specialists, nurses, and technical staff from various fields such as anesthesia, neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, and plastic surgery.
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of KSrelief, led the surgical team. He confirmed that the separation of the parasitic twin from Mohammed went as planned. The parasitic twin lacked vital organs like a heart and head and had congenital deformities that could not be corrected medically.

The Saudi Conjoined Twins Program has been instrumental in providing care since 1990. It has treated 149 conjoined twins from 27 countries. Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted that this recent surgery marks the 63rd successful operation under this program. He expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support.
Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized that these medical successes highlight Saudi Arabia's significant role in global humanitarian efforts. The Kingdom's leadership has consistently supported initiatives that demonstrate compassion and generosity on an international scale.
The parents of the twins expressed profound appreciation for the Saudi leadership's care and hospitality during their stay. They praised the Kingdom's commitment to humanitarian work and its spirit of giving, which they experienced firsthand since their arrival.
Before the operation, doctors informed the family about the twin's condition. The parasitic twin had underdeveloped kidneys, urinary and reproductive systems, along with severe intestinal deficiencies. These issues were known prior to surgery and explained thoroughly to the parents.
This successful procedure underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to advancing medical care through its Conjoined Twins Program. Such achievements reflect its commitment to charitable work worldwide.
