Commerce Minister Majid Al-Kassabi Leads Delegation To Strengthen Saudi-Norway Trade Relations

Majid Al-Kassabi, the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the National Competitiveness Center (NCC) Board, embarked on a visit to Oslo, Norway. The primary goal was to boost trade in key sectors and strengthen economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Norway. This visit also included participation in the Saudi-Norwegian Business Forum.

During his two-day stay, Al-Kassabi led a delegation of 30 officials from both public and private sectors. He engaged in discussions with Norwegian ministers and officials about opportunities arising from Saudi Vision 2030. These talks aimed at encouraging Norwegian companies to expand into promising Saudi sectors like fisheries, maritime transport, circular economy, and sustainability.

Al-Kassabi met with Cecilie Myrseth, Norway's Minister of Trade and Industry. They discussed enhancing trade relations to seize opportunities in emerging economic areas. The meeting also covered Saudi Arabia’s legislative and regulatory reforms that have improved the business environment's appeal.

In another meeting with Kjetil Vevle, Norwegian State Secretary of Labor and Social Inclusion, Al-Kassabi focused on cooperation in skill development. They explored exchanging expertise between educational institutions to meet future labor market demands.

The final ministerial meeting was with Even Sagebakken, Norway's State Secretary of Fisheries and Ocean Policy. Discussions centered on enhancing trade through port development and maritime logistics cooperation. They also reviewed Norway’s smart mobility systems for potential application in Saudi projects.

This visit underscored the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations by exploring new avenues for collaboration. By focusing on sectors like maritime transport and sustainability, both countries aim to foster mutual growth and innovation.
