Saudi Vice Minister Of Commerce Leads Delegation To Enhance Saudi-British Economic Relations
Saudi Arabia's Vice Minister of Commerce, Dr. Eman bint Habbas Al-Mutairi, led a delegation to the UK from November 18-22. The visit aimed to strengthen economic ties and partnerships in key sectors. This initiative is part of the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council's vision, co-chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The delegation included officials from eight government agencies and 25 business leaders from major Saudi companies. They focused on enhancing trade relations and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Meetings with British officials like Investment Minister Poppy Gustafsson and Business Advisor Varun Chandra were held to discuss expanding trade exchanges and partnerships.

During the visit, the National Competitiveness Center organized three workshops. These sessions brought together investors, representatives from British schools, and Saudi officials to explore cooperation opportunities. A key goal is to increase the number of British schools in Saudi Arabia to ten by next year, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
The discussions also highlighted educational diversification and cultural exchange initiatives. These efforts aim to provide high-quality education options that meet international standards, enriching Saudi Arabia's educational landscape. The focus is on attracting top British private schools and nursing colleges to the Kingdom.
The Saudi delegation visited several UK educational institutions, including Birmingham City University and various Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools like Caretech and Chatsworth. Delegation members learned about best practices in these institutions, considering their applicability for enhancing education in Saudi Arabia.
Participants included representatives from the Ministries of Commerce, Investment, Health, Education, Human Resources and Social Development. The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, the National Competitiveness Center, the Council of University Affairs, along with business leaders from major national companies also took part in the visit.
Overall, this visit aimed at fostering economic growth through strengthened bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the UK. By focusing on education and cultural exchange as well as trade partnerships, both nations seek mutual benefits aligned with their strategic goals.
