Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation Between The Federal National Council And The Mexican Senate
Amna Ali AlAdidi, a member of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC) with Latin American and North American Parliaments, recently met José Fernández from the Senate of the United Mexican States in Dubai. They explored ways to boost parliamentary collaboration and enhance partnerships between their councils.
The meeting highlighted the robust ties between the UAE and Mexico, marking 50 years since their establishment in 1975. Both parties acknowledged this anniversary as a significant opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation, benefiting both nations. Their relationship is built on friendship and mutual respect, supporting dialogue, understanding, peace, and sustainable development.

Both representatives reaffirmed the strong parliamentary connections between the Federal National Council and Mexico's Senate and Chamber of Deputies. They emphasised formalising this cooperation through a memorandum of understanding. This agreement would activate parliamentary friendship committees within an organised framework, fostering continuous communication and legislative exchange.
The proposed memorandum aims to unify positions on shared interests in regional and international forums. It would also enhance parliamentary diplomacy's role in addressing national and global issues. Such collaboration supports joint efforts to promote dialogue and understanding between the two countries.
During their discussions, both sides stressed advancing negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. This agreement would expand trade and investment cooperation, fostering sustainable growth between the UAE and Mexico. Strengthening economic ties is seen as crucial for mutual prosperity.
The meeting underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral relations through various avenues. By formalising agreements and promoting economic partnerships, both nations aim to achieve long-term benefits for their peoples. The focus remains on building a future based on shared values and mutual interests.
This collaborative approach reflects a commitment to strengthening ties at multiple levels. By working together, the UAE and Mexico can continue to build a prosperous relationship that benefits both countries' citizens.
