UAE And Italy Establish Strategic Partnership To Combat Financial Crimes Effectively

The UAE's General Secretariat of the National Anti-Money Laundering and Combatting Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Illegal Organisations Committee (GS-NAMLCFTC) has entered a strategic partnership with Italy's Guardia di Finanza. This collaboration aims to tackle emerging financial crimes by sharing expertise and best practices between law enforcement agencies. The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Hamid Saif Al Zaabi and Lieutenant General Leandro Cuzzocrea.

Hamid Saif Al Zaabi emphasised the importance of this MoU in enhancing UAE-Italy relations in financial crime prevention. He stated, "The signing of this MoU represents a crucial step in strengthening the relationship between the UAE and Italy in the realm of financial crime prevention. Together, we aim through this MoU to set a global benchmark for international cooperation, ensuring that financial systems are safeguarded from illicit activities and that perpetrators are brought to justice."

UAE and Italy Partner Against Financial Crimes

The collaboration has already resulted in significant achievements, including the arrest and extradition of high-profile criminals and the seizure of substantial illicit assets. Al Zaabi added, "By signing this MoU we are sending a clear message to criminals that we will relentlessly protect our societies and economies from the destructive impact of their actions." This partnership underscores both nations' commitment to combatting financial crimes effectively.

Lieutenant General Leandro Cuzzocrea expressed confidence in the partnership's potential benefits. He noted, "The UAE General Secretariat of the National Anti -Money Laundering and Combatting Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Illegal Organisations Committee is a key institutional partner for the Guardia di Finanza. I am confident that the Memorandum we have just signed will foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest, thus contributing to strengthening our efforts to address the challenges of safeguarding legality and security in our Countries."

Celebrating Milestones

The MoU was signed during celebrations marking 250 years since the establishment of Italy's Financial Police. This timing highlights the enduring commitment to international cooperation against financial crimes. The agreement enhances strategic operations between both countries' authorities, focusing on international cooperation, criminal extradition, and combating cross-border illicit financial flows.
