10th Annual Stenin Press Photo Contest Welcomes Young Talents
The 10th annual Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest, commemorating the birthday of the late Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, has officially opened for entries. Stenin tragically lost his life while on assignment in Donbas in 2014. This contest, organized by the Rossiya Segodnya media group, aims to unearth and promote emerging talent within the realm of photojournalism, targeting individuals aged 18 to 33. Sputnik news agency and radio have been announced as the international media partners for this prestigious event.
Oksana Oleinik, the curator of the contest, expressed her enthusiasm about the milestone anniversary of the competition. She highlighted its significance as a global platform that has been instrumental in showcasing young photographers who demonstrate courage, innovation, and a capacity to convey their perspectives vividly and impartially. This year's edition introduces a novel category titled "View From Above", expanding the competition's scope to include a total of five categories. This addition is designed to inspire participants to adopt unique visual angles and delve into unconventional subjects and settings.

The contest boasts a generous prize pool, with the top award amounting to 700,000 rubles (approximately $7,588). The prizes for the first, second, and third places are set at 125,000 rubles, 100,000 rubles, and 75,000 rubles respectively. This structure not only incentivizes participation but also underscores the contest's commitment to supporting and recognizing the hard work and creativity of young photojournalists.
As it enters its tenth year, the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest continues to honor its namesake's legacy by providing a platform for young photographers to showcase their talent on an international stage. With its expanded category list and significant prize offerings, this year's edition promises to be as engaging and competitive as ever.
