Stc Group Expands Its Nationwide 5G Network To Enhance Connectivity For Pilgrims

stc Group has made notable strides in expanding its 5G network, particularly enhancing connectivity for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah. This initiative is part of their broader strategy to drive digital transformation throughout Saudi Arabia. The group's efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to provide advanced digital infrastructure.

In Madinah, especially around the Prophet’s Mosque, stc achieved remarkable performance metrics. International roaming data usage surged by 348% compared to the previous year. Additionally, there was a 74% increase in 5G network usage and a 20% boost in data download speeds. These improvements ensured seamless connectivity for pilgrims and visitors from both within and outside the Kingdom.

The company has surpassed 9,500 5G network sites across Saudi Arabia as part of its strategic plan to extend coverage. This expansion aims to deliver high-speed connectivity not only in urban areas but also in remote regions. Such efforts are crucial for supporting the growing demand for reliable internet access.

stc has also enhanced its network capabilities by activating the low-band spectrum (600 MHz – N71). This spectrum was recently acquired, making stc the first operator in the region to commercially launch services using this band. This advancement highlights stc's commitment to pioneering new technologies in telecommunications.

Eng. Haitham AlFaraj, Chief Technology Officer of stc Group, emphasized that the 5G Standalone technology represents the latest generation of networks. It operates on an independent infrastructure, allowing flexible allocation of network resources. This flexibility caters to specific needs across public and private sectors.

He further explained that technologies like Network Slicing enable tailored solutions for various applications such as smart cities, digital healthcare, and automated factories. These innovations enhance the network's readiness for future demands and support the growth of Saudi Arabia's digital economy.

By focusing on these advancements, stc Group continues to contribute significantly during the 1446 AH Hajj season. Their efforts ensure that pilgrims experience efficient connectivity while visiting holy sites.
