Saudi Arabia Unveils State-of-the-Art Stadiums For FIFA World Cup 2034 Hosting
Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host the FIFA World Cup 2034™, marking a significant milestone in its sporting history. The Kingdom is preparing to welcome 48 teams from around the globe, with a detailed plan that combines football heritage and passion for the sport. This strategy aims to make the tournament unforgettable on a global scale.
The Saudi leadership has shown immense support for this event, as evidenced by well-planned development initiatives. These efforts highlight the nation's capabilities in preparing for such a historic occasion. A key focus of these initiatives is the construction and renovation of stadiums across five major cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Abha, and NEOM.

In Riyadh, eight stadiums will host World Cup matches, including the new King Salman International Stadium. This venue will seat over 92,000 spectators and host both the opening and final matches. Another notable addition is the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, featuring a futuristic design with colourful glass facades and an LED wall.
The King Fahd Sports City Stadium is undergoing upgrades to meet international standards while expanding its capacity to over 70,000 spectators. The historic Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium will also be part of Riyadh's lineup. New additions like South Riyadh Stadium and ROSHN Stadium promise unique fan experiences.
Jeddah will see the construction of the Jeddah Central Development Stadium, inspired by local heritage and traditional wooden architecture from Al-Balad district. The coastal stadium in King Abdullah Economic City will draw inspiration from Red Sea coral reefs. The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, known as "The Shining Jewel," can accommodate over 58,000 fans.
Al-Khobar's Aramco Stadium will feature a design inspired by sea whirlpools seen off its coast during summer months. Its architectural elements include overlapping sails that mimic natural waves. In Abha, King Khalid University Stadium is expanding to hold over 45,000 spectators while focusing on sustainability.
NEOM's Innovative Approach
The NEOM Stadium promises to be one of the world's most distinctive venues. Located at an elevation of over 350 meters within "The Line" structure, it offers an unprecedented experience for football fans. Wind and solar power will primarily energise this stadium, setting a new standard in sustainable design worldwide.
To maximise Saudi Arabia’s geographic diversity, ten additional cities will support host cities by accommodating training camps for teams before and during the tournament. These cities offer rich tourist areas where teams and fans can explore Saudi heritage while enjoying unique tourism experiences during their stay.
Comprehensive Training Facilities
The Kingdom plans to provide 132 training venues across 15 cities for all participating teams and delegations. This includes 72 stadiums dedicated solely to training camps along with two centres specifically for referees' training needs.
This comprehensive approach ensures that Saudi Arabia is not only ready to host FIFA World Cup 2034™ but also aims to leave a lasting legacy through its commitment towards sports infrastructure development combined with cultural enrichment opportunities for visitors worldwide.
