Space42 Signs Strategic MoU With Angola To Enhance Technology Collaboration In National Security
Space42, a UAE-based SpaceTech firm, has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with Angola's Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISM). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focuses on advanced technology collaboration in various fields. This includes satellite communications, Earth observation, artificial intelligence, high-altitude platform stations, national security drones, border control solutions, and command and control centre development.
The agreement was formalised in Luanda with Space42's Chief Commercial Officer, Sulaiman Al Ali, and senior Angolan military officials present. Space42 already provides complete coverage of Angola through its YahClick satellite broadband service. This existing infrastructure will be enhanced by the upcoming Thuraya-4 satellite system. This expansion reflects Space42's long-term commitment to Angola.

The MoU outlines collaboration across seven key areas. These include leveraging Space42's satellite infrastructure for advanced communication systems and using high-resolution imagery for geospatial intelligence. AI-powered analytics will enhance automated intelligence processing. High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) will be developed for communications and Earth observation.
Specialised unmanned systems will be used for surveillance and border security. Integrated technology systems will improve border monitoring. A centralised operations hub will be developed for command and control purposes. These initiatives aim to bolster Angola's technological capabilities significantly.
This agreement follows high-level meetings in the UAE between General João Pereira Massano of Angola's Military Intelligence and Security Service and Space42's leadership team. During these sessions, Space42 showcased its advanced space-based intelligence and AI-powered solutions through live demonstrations and product presentations.
The Angolan delegation showed significant interest in these technical presentations, leading to the formalisation of this deeper collaboration through the MoU. "We're incredibly excited about this partnership and what it means for Angola," said Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer of Space42.
Commitment to Angola's Development
Sulaiman Al Ali expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential impact on Angola. He stated that after years of serving the Angolan people through satellite services, this MoU represents a natural evolution of their commitment to the country. The collaboration aims to make a real difference not just in national security but also in everyday life.
"When General Massano and his team visited us in the UAE, we could see their genuine interest in how our space technology and AI solutions could make a real difference - not just for national security, but for the everyday lives of Angola's people and communities," Al Ali added.
This MoU signifies Space42's ongoing expansion across Africa. It highlights the company's dedication to supporting government partners with cutting-edge space technology and artificial intelligence solutions.
