Space42 Successfully Ships First UAE-Integrated Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellites To The United States
Space42 has successfully transported three Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, named Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5, from its facility in Abu Dhabi to the United States. These satellites were developed in collaboration with ICEYE, a leader in SAR satellite operations. This achievement marks the first time such advanced SAR satellites have undergone crucial integration and testing in the UAE at Space42's Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) facility.
The addition of these satellites to Space42’s Earth Observation Foresight Constellation will enhance its ability to provide persistent, all-weather imagery with a 25-centimetre resolution worldwide. This expanded constellation will offer improved tactical access to premium SAR imagery products, supporting disaster response, climate monitoring, urban planning, logistics, and national security efforts.

Khalid Al Awadhi, SVP Earth Observation Systems at Space42, expressed pride in this milestone for both Space42 and the UAE. He stated: "This is a proud moment for Space42 and the UAE. For the first time, satellites equipped with cutting-edge SAR technology have been tested in the UAE. This reflects how far we have come: from reliance on imported technology to building advanced platforms with our global partners. These satellites will expand our Foresight Constellation, deepen our sovereign capability, and reaffirm the UAE’s leadership in the next generation of AI-powered Space Technology."
With two satellites already operational—Foresight-1 launched in August 2024 and Foresight-2 launched in January 2025—the new additions bring the constellation closer to achieving maturity by 2027. This expansion solidifies Space42’s standing in the rapidly growing market for high-resolution Earth Observation data that is delivered quickly.
The development of Foresight-3, -4, and -5 underscores the power of distributed manufacturing and international cooperation. The production took place in Finland while AIT was conducted in the UAE. This programme showcases how global partnerships can drive innovation forward and enhance supply chain resilience.
The UAE's increasing leadership in space technology is supported by domestic AIT capabilities, Emirati engineering expertise, and collaboration with international partners. These elements ensure that key milestones are achieved efficiently within budget constraints.
Future Plans for Constellation Expansion
Looking ahead, Space42 aims to further expand its constellation through 2027. This growth will secure comprehensive global coverage while reinforcing the UAE's position within the global space economy.
Space42’s AI platform GIQ plays a crucial role by analysing imagery to deliver decision-grade geospatial intelligence. This intelligence supports planning, operations, and risk response across government sectors and enterprises alike.
This initiative aligns with Space42’s strategy of becoming a preferred partner for premium geospatial data services. It also supports the UAE’s National Space Strategy 2030 by advancing sovereign resilience and accelerating progress toward strategic goals.
