Space42 And Autonomous A2Z Collaborate To Enhance Smart Mobility Ecosystem In UAE

Space42 and Autonomous A2Z, a prominent Korean company in autonomous driving, have agreed to form a joint venture in Abu Dhabi. This partnership aims to introduce and commercialise Level-4 autonomous-driving solutions across the Middle East and Africa. Announced at GITEX Global 2025, this collaboration is a pivotal step towards enhancing local autonomous capabilities and promoting a sustainable smart-mobility ecosystem in the region.

The joint venture will play a crucial role in establishing a national framework for innovation, development, and commercialisation of autonomous mobility. This aligns with the Smart Autonomous Systems Council’s mission. By integrating intelligent fleets and developing skilled expertise, businesses and cities can expect improvements in efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Collaboration to Boost Smart Mobility in UAE

Jihyeong Han, CEO of Autonomous A2Z, stated, "Having demonstrated our Level-4 autonomous technology as the official operator for APEC 2025, we are now extending this proven expertise to the Middle East. Through our collaboration with Space42, we aim to support the UAE’s national vision for smart and autonomous mobility, advancing local innovation and strengthening the region’s leadership in sustainable transportation."

The collaboration builds on an existing partnership between Space42 and A2Z. It also supports Space42’s broader investment in the UAE's smart-mobility sector. Recently, Space42 launched the Sovereign Mobility Cloud. This AI-enabled infrastructure aids mapping, fleet operations, and traffic management. Additionally, partnerships with Dynamic Map Platform and General Motors enhance their autonomous-driving systems.

Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42, remarked on the UAE's progress: "The UAE is rapidly advancing towards a new era of intelligent transport. Cross-market collaboration facilitates knowledge-sharing, integral to realising the nation’s ambitions in autonomous mobility, in line with Space42’s strategic pillar of leading in geospatial intelligence services. By joining forces with A2Z, we are paving the way for local innovation, technological advancement, and sovereign capability in one of the most transformative sectors of our time."

Since its inception in 2021, Space42's TXAI robotaxi service has achieved significant milestones. It has covered nearly 600,000 km autonomously without any incidents while transporting 20,000 passengers. The fleet operates across Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, Al Maryah Island, Al Reem Island, and Zayed International Airport.

This venture not only enhances local innovation but also contributes to the UAE's vision of an economy driven by resilience and innovation. The efforts aim to transition from pilot programmes to fully operational autonomous mobility technologies that are sustainable and scalable.
