SOPC Vice President Prince Fahad Bin Jalawi Honoured With Paralympic Asian Award 2025 In Astana

The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) recently awarded Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), with the "Paralympic Asian Award 2025." This recognition took place during the Asian Paralympic Awards ceremony, which was part of the APC General Assembly and Conference in Astana, Kazakhstan. The award acknowledges his significant contributions to advancing sports for individuals with disabilities and his ongoing support for the Paralympic movement at both regional and international levels.

More than 45 Asian countries participated in this event, including national committee presidents, sports experts, and notable Paralympic figures. The gathering is one of the most important continental Paralympic events and was hosted for the first time in Central Asia. International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Andrew Parsons was present at the ceremony, highlighting its significance.

SOPC Chief Executive and Secretary-General Abdulaziz Baeshen delivered a detailed presentation on Riyadh’s preparations to host the 2034 Asian Paralympic Games. His presentation covered various aspects such as sports infrastructure, accommodation facilities, and transport plans. He also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s achievements in hosting major sporting events, showcasing the Kingdom's readiness for future challenges.

The APC conference concluded yesterday after featuring sessions aimed at exchanging expertise on developing sports for persons with disabilities. These sessions included presentations from subcommittees on projects and programs. Additionally, there were addresses by international sports federations and regional working sessions focused on enhancing cooperation within the continent.

On the sidelines of the conference, Prince Fahad bin Jalawi and Abdulaziz Baeshen met with APC President Majid Al-Usaimi. Their discussions centered around areas of cooperation and strategies to strengthen partnerships for developing Paralympic sports across Asia. This meeting underscored their commitment to fostering growth in this field through collaborative efforts.

The APC president also addressed issues related to combating doping in sports during one of the conference sessions.
