Solomon Islands Embassy Officially Opens In Abu Dhabi With Leaders' Presence

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Jeremiah Manele, Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, have inaugurated the Solomon Islands Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The ceremony was attended by embassy members and several business leaders. This event marks a significant step in enhancing diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The unveiling of the embassy plaque by Dr. Al Zeyoudi and Prime Minister Manele symbolises the official opening of the Solomon Islands' diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi. Cornelius Walegerea, Ambassador of the Solomon Islands to the UAE, along with members of the foreign diplomatic corps from the Solomon Islands, were present at this important occasion.

New Solomon Islands Embassy Opens in Abu Dhabi

Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted that this inauguration signifies a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation across various fields. He pointed out that it represents a crucial milestone in the growing relationship between both countries. Since establishing diplomatic ties in 2010, trade and investment exchanges have flourished.

In 2023, non-oil bilateral trade between the UAE and the Solomon Islands increased by 71 percent compared to 2022, reaching US$3 million. The exports from the Solomon Islands to the UAE more than quadrupled during this period, boosting local industries such as fishing and forestry.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi also mentioned the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund's role in developing a solar power plant in the Solomon Islands. This project is built and operated by Masdar, also known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, showcasing collaborative efforts in renewable energy development.

Prime Minister Manele expressed that this inauguration would further solidify bilateral ties and praised ongoing cooperation across various sectors. He reaffirmed his country's dedication to deepening collaboration for mutual benefit.

The opening of the new embassy not only strengthens diplomatic connections but also paves the way for enhanced economic partnerships. Both nations are committed to fostering growth through shared initiatives and projects that benefit their respective economies.
