SOCPA Gulf Knowledge Center Initiative Advances Regional Coordination In Accounting And Auditing
The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants launched the first initiative of its Knowledge Center during the first Gulf coordination meeting for accounting and auditing bodies, hosted in Kuwait. Representatives of Gulf professional organizations attended. Participants agreed to develop a lasting framework for coordination. They aimed to support knowledge exchange and align professional positions.
The meeting adopted several shared objectives. These included building an organised Gulf system for cooperation in accounting and auditing fields and developing unified professional messages on common issues. Such goals seek to improve practice quality across the region. Delegates also stressed the value of regular dialogue between Gulf bodies.

The International Federation of Accountants praised the coordination meeting. Through its official website, IFAC highlighted the importance of this structured regional dialogue model. IFAC noted its role in turning professional discussions into practical programmes and clear plans. These efforts aim to improve practice quality and reinforce cooperation among professional organizations in the Middle East and North Africa.
According to IFAC, this appreciation was linked to outcomes from the IFAC Connect Forum for the Middle East and North Africa, hosted in Riyadh and organised by SOCPA. That forum gathered global leaders of the profession. It supported wider conversations on strengthening professional organisations and enhancing accounting and auditing oversight across diverse markets.
SOCPA CEO Dr. Ahmed Al-Meghames stated that the Gulf coordination meeting outcomes rested on several knowledge initiatives. These included holding regular coordination meetings, launching a monthly "Gulf Knowledge Hour" to share expertise, preparing a unified Gulf guide for professional practices, and exchanging indicators and data. These actions aim to reinforce trust in the profession and enlarge its regional and international presence.
The Knowledge Center initiative and the related Gulf coordination framework also align with broader regional cooperation trends. By linking forums in Riyadh with outcomes in Kuwait, SOCPA and partner bodies connect discussion with implementation. The timing of these steps, reported at 12:54 Local Time and 09:54 GMT, underlines their current relevance for accounting and auditing professionals.
