Social Media Station Set To Inspire Creativity At Sharjah International Book Fair 2024

The 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2024) will feature the much-anticipated Social Media Station from November 6-17. This popular attraction draws large crowds each year, offering a vibrant space for visitors to enhance their digital communication and content creation skills. Attendees can participate in interactive workshops designed to boost their social media presence creatively and responsibly.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from renowned content creators such as Yara bou Monsef, Ibrahim Almarrawi, Leila and Nasser, Shihab Al Hashmi, Rashid Al Remethi, Husam Kwaik, Eisa Alhabib, Sara Al Refai, Saleh El Nawawy, and Raef Yousef. These experts will share their insights with children and youth, providing valuable guidance on various aspects of social media.

Inspiring Creativity at SIBF 2024's Social Media Station

The Social Media Station offers a comprehensive programme that includes workshops like ‘Writing Social Media Captions’. Here, participants will experiment with tone and humour to craft memorable captions. Another workshop, ‘Social Media Etiquette Role-Play’, focuses on respectful online engagement by simulating real-world scenarios such as handling negative comments.

In the ‘Podcasting and Voice Recording’ workshop, attendees will record and edit podcasts using tools like Anchor or GarageBand. This session aims to improve verbal communication and technical skills. Meanwhile, the ‘Creating Social Media Ads’ workshop teaches participants to design engaging ads using platforms like Canva and Adobe Spark.

Additional workshops include ‘Behind-the-Scenes Content Creation’, where participants document hobbies or daily activities to produce captivating videos. The ‘YouTube Vlogging Workshop’ guides attendees in scripting, filming, and editing short videos while emphasising online safety. In the ‘Influencer for a Day’ workshop, participants explore niche content areas such as fashion or art.

Workshops like ‘Digital Citizenship and Social Media Etiquette’ aim to raise awareness about online behaviour challenges like cyberbullying. The ‘Stop-Motion Animation’ workshop allows participants to delve into short film production using creative animation techniques. Teens can also engage in the ‘Profile Makeover: Design Your Social Media Persona’ workshop.

Developing Critical Thinking Skills

The station also offers the ‘Instagram Reels Remix’ workshop where teens mix popular video or audio clips with their artistic spin. The ‘Instagram vs Reality: The Truth Behind Perfect Posts’ workshop challenges participants to explore the disparity between curated images and reality by creating split posts. In the ‘Social Media Sensation Analysis’ workshop, attendees develop critical thinking skills by dissecting viral content.
