Saudi Tech Giant SITE Invests SAR 500 Million In Korean Cybersecurity Firm AhnLab
In a significant move towards bolstering cybersecurity infrastructure within Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE), a Public Investment Fund (PIF) entity, alongside its subsidiary SITE Ventures, has announced a substantial investment exceeding SAR500 million with AhnLab Inc., a South Korean cybersecurity leader. This collaboration marks a strategic initiative to deploy and adapt advanced cybersecurity technologies catering to the needs of the national and regional markets.
The partnership entails the formation of a joint venture (JV) aimed at localizing sophisticated cybersecurity solutions. This initiative is complemented by a joint research-and-development effort designed to harness top-tier technical knowledge and capabilities, essential for navigating the complexities of the current cybersecurity landscape. Additionally, SITE Ventures will enhance its market position by acquiring a 10% stake in AhnLab through a capital increase, signifying a deepened bilateral cooperation.

Dr. Saad Alaboodi, Chief Executive of SITE, emphasized the strategic importance of this investment, highlighting SITE's commitment to importing and localizing premier cybersecurity technologies in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region. This move is aimed at addressing the escalating market demands while upholding superior standards of excellence for both public and private sector clients.
AhnLab's Chief Executive, Suk-Kyoon Kang, expressed optimism about the joint venture, viewing it as a foundation for long-term collaboration that leverages the competitive strengths of both entities to achieve mutual growth in the MENA region. Kang anticipates that this partnership will enable the customization of cybersecurity technologies to meet the specific requirements of the MENA market, including Saudi Arabia, thereby facilitating accelerated global expansion.
